2013-14 Season: KJ Rose made an immediate impact on the program as he joined the starting lineup in his collegiate debut. He posted nine points and five rebounds in the opening win against Sacred Heart. He started all but one of his appearances in 2013-14, coming off the bench and scoring 11 points against Niagara on January 16. That performance was one of 10 double-digit scoring performances, which included an 18-point effort against Quinnipiac at home. That game was the third straight outing with 10 or more points for the guard, averaging 14.7 points during that run. Six of his 10-plus point performances came at home with his best road game coming at Canisius (13 points). He posted his first collegiate double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds in the regular-season finale against marist. Rose ended his inaugural campaign with 112 assists against 94 turnovers, placing him eighth in the MAAC for assist-turnover ratio. Rose was the first freshman at Fairfield to record 100 assists in a season since Derek Needham hit the century mark in 2009-10. He was seventh in the MAAC for assists, dishing off 3.7 per contest. He posted a career-best nine assists against one turnover at Niagara, surpassing his previous high of seven assists against no turnovers against Iona in December.

Before Fairfield: Rose joined the Fairfield University basketball program after he enjoyed a highly-successful career at Binghamton High School. Over his last two seasons, Rose helped lead his team to two Section 4 Class AA Championships. In 2012-13, Rose averaged 16 points per game as the Patriots went to the New York State Regional semi-finals before losing to New Rochelle. As a junior, Rose was selected as the best player in Class AA by the Basketball Coaches Association of New York.
