2020-21
John Kelly saw his first action as a Stag during the 2020-21 season, securing minutes in four contests. He made his varsity debut against Quinnipiac on February 7, playing just over two minutes against the Bobcats. He followed up with two more minutes at Saint Peter’s, missing his only shot attempt of the game from behind the three-point arc. In the season finale, Kelly recorded a personal-best eight minutes of work which was highlighted by his first career points off a jump shot and rebounds. He ended the season with an appearance against Iona in the MAAC Tournament Championship game. He finished the year with a 0.5 scoring average and a 0.3 rebounding average.


Before Fairfield
John Kelly joins the Fairfield University men’s basketball program after spending his senior season at Willison Northampton School. Prior to the 2018-19 season, Kelly spent a year at Cheshire Academy after attending Fairfield Prep for his freshman and sophomore campaigns. He is a two-time Class AA All-NEPSAC player, earning honorable mention as a junior at Cheshire Academy before collecting a spot on the Class AA All-NEPSAC team as a senior at Willison Northampton. He also garnered accolades at Fairfield Prep as he was placed on the New Haven Register All-Area team in 2016-17.
