Patrick Sellers starts his second season with the Stags basketball program after serving the two seasons as an assistant coach at Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was a member of the Knights staff for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 campaigns, helping the team capture the NEC Championship in 2018-19 and a berth to the NCAA tournament.
He brings a wealth of experience to the Fairfield program, serving as a college basketball coach since joining the Central Connecticut State University staff for the 1999-2000 campaign. During his time at Central Connecticut, the Blue Devils made two NCAA tournament appearances in 2000 and 2002.
Sellers accepted a position as an assistant coach at the University of Massachusetts for the 2003-04 Â season before taking an assistant coaching job at the University of Connecticut from 2004-10. While with the Huskies, he was instrumental in recruiting Jeremy Lamb, Tyler Olander, and Shabazz Napier who provided the foundation for the 2011 and 2014 national championships.
His coaching resume also includes two seasons at Hofstra University and another two campaigns at Creighton University before taking his seat on the Fairleigh Dickinson bench.
Sellers played his collegiate basketball at Central Connecticut State University where he graduated in 1991 with a degree in accounting. He was a team captain and named the East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year after leading the team in rebounding twice and finishing his career with 581 career rebounds. He played three seasons in the British Basketball League before coming back to the United States to begin his coaching career.
