Biography

2019-20
Kavaliauskas missed the first five games of the season before making his debut against Southern California, playing 13 minutes and netting a three-point field goal. Shooting from behind the line became a central theme for the senior, taking 43 three pointers in his 27 appearances. He connected on a three-point shot in eight of his first 11 games played and shot 62 percent from behind the arc in that time frame (13 of 21). The guard with 16 three-point field goals and shot 37 percent from long range which was slightly higher than his overall field goal percentage of 35.6 percent. Kavaliauskas ended the season with a 4.4 scoring average which placed fifth among his teammates. Despite playing five games fewer than team leader Taj Benning, Kavaliauskas’ 61 assists was just two shy of his teammate’s top assist total. He reached double figures in back-to-back games during conference play, posting 13 points against Marist before tallying 12 points against Manhattan. He also had a double-figure effort with 10 points at Wagner, making both three-point attempts and all four of his free throw tries. Kavaliauskas dished off five assists or more five times including a season-best six assists against Manhattan.

2018-19
Aidas Kavaliauskas was usually one of the first student-athletes off the bench, entering the game as a reserve in all 28 of his appearances. The guard finished the campaign with a 3.1 scoring average, most of which was based off his .431 field goal percentage. He made at least 50 percent of his field goal attempts in 14 games, including a 4 for 8 effort from the floor at Niagara which led to his season-high 11 points. He also added six assists against the Purple Eagles, a total only surpassed by his 10 assists against Niagara earlier in the season. Despite coming off the bench, Kavaliauskas placed second on the team with 72 assists, a number which represents the best mark among returning players. He has 164 career assists which amounts to 3.4 per contest over his 48-game career. 

2017-18
Kavaliauskas did not join the lineup until January when he received the nod at Rider. He posted six points with a pair of assists in his 16 minutes of work, making both of his shots inside the arc as well as both free throw attempts. The guard posted three double-doubles in his first eight games as a Stag, beginning with his 14-point, 10-assist night at Marist. In his next appearance, Kavaliauskas did it again with 14 points and 11 assists, becoming the first Stag to have back-to-back double-doubles with points and assists since Joe DeSantis accomplished the task in February, 1978. He added one more with 10 points and 12 assists against Iona in late January. Kavaliauskas averaged 4.6 assists (92 in 20 games), an averaged buoyed by eight games of six or more assists. He also averaged 1.8 steals per game by picking up two or more steals in eight games. He shot 47 percent from the floor (42 of 90). Kavaliauskas averaged 5.4 points and 2.8 rebounds per game thorough his 20 appearances.

Aidas Kavaliauskas brings an impressive basketball resume to Fairfield University, including a year at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio. Kavaliauskas, a 6-1, 175-pound guard, was named the Best Point Guard of the European Youth Basketball League in 2014.Kavaliauskas helped his team capture the Holland Nordic Tournament championship in 2013. His international experience includes playing with the Lithuanian Junior National Team in 2011. He was also a member of the European-A Championship Team in that same year. Also in 2011, he was selected to the Jordan Brand Classic Camp in 2011, which was for the top 50 players in Europe.
