Fairfield University Athletics

2024 Season: Samantha Saxon secured a regular spot in the team’s rotation, appearing in 16 games during the season. Her time on the pitch resulted in four assists, all coming against NEC opponents. Her first point of the season set up a goal against Mercyhurst which she followed with two more assists in the Merrimack game one game later. She closed out her scoring ledger with a point against Rider University, giving the Stags a victory in each game she recorded a point. Saxon also excelled in the classroom, securing a spot on the NEC Fall Academic Honor Roll.

2023 Season: Saxon came off the sideline for nine matches during the 2023 campaign, beginning with the season opener at Hofstra. Six of her appearances came against non-conference opponents which included time against nationally-ranked University of Iowa. She also entered NEC matches against Stonehill, Sacred Heart, and Merrimack. She took one shot for the season and placed it on target against Lafayette College.

2021 Season:  Saxon made her collegiate debut against Merrimack College, coming off the bench for her lone appearance of the campaign. She picked up 15 minutes of action during the game, contributing from the midfield position.

Before Fairfield: Saxon joined the Fairfield field hockey program following a successful athletic and academic career at Gwynedd Mercy Academy. She will play along side her sister Gabby, a senior midfielder on the 2021 roster. Saxon comes to Fairfield after helping her high school team make a run in the state tournament in her senior season. The midfielder earned All-Area honors for her play in 2020. Saxon also collected a spot on the NFHCA National High School Academic Squad for her play on the pitch and her success in the classroom.
