Biography

2024 Season: Payton Rahn continued to build on her record book numbers with another stellar year in 2024. She entered the season with a career 1.49 goals against average and saw that number dwindle to 1.37 after sporting a 0.87 GAA for the season. She posted 30 saves in 10 appearances, allowing eight goals in 554 minutes. She tallied two shutouts (Holy Cross and Hofstra) and was part of a third (30 minutes against Merrimack) to help her goals against average. Rahn made a season-high seven saves against Wagner in the NEC Championship game and followed up her next best total of five in the NCAA Championship opening round game against Delaware. Rahn finished her year with a spot on the NEC Fall Academic Honor Roll.

2023 Season: Rahn collected several accolades following her 2023 season beginning with the Northeast Conference goalkeeper of the year and an All-NEC first-team selection. She went on to capture a spot on the NFHCA All-Region second team as well. Rahn finished her season with a 1.12 goals against average which placed ninth in the nation, allowing 19 goals in 1020 minutes of play over 17 games. She also made 63 saves for a .768 save percentage, tying for 12th in the nation. Rahn won 13 games in the Fairfield net, five of which came by shutout. She made a season-best nine saves in a 2-1 win over Holy Cross in the 2023 regular-season finale.

2022 Season: Rahn assumed the starting goalkeeper duties for the 2022 campaign after playing a limited role in her freshman campaign. She posted a .721 save percentage off 98 saves in her 20 appearances, totaling 1,219 minutes played. She collected a shutout in a 1-0 win over Holy Cross before combining on a shutout in a victory over Stonehill, playing the first 50 minutes of the contest. Rahn opened the season with nine saves against Monmouth, only to be surpassed by her career-best 10 stops at Louisville later in the season. She yielded one goal or less in seven of her 20 appearances which led her to a 1.87 goals against average. Rahn is a member of the Northeast Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll.

2021 Season: Rahn secured minutes in four games during the 2021 season, seeing time against Quinnipiac, Drexel, Saint Francis, and Merrimack. In those outings, Rahn did  not allow a goal in her combined 47 minutes of work, making two saves against Merrimack to highlight her time on the pitch. She was part of two combined shutouts against Quinnipiac and Merrimack along with Zoe Rosen. Rahn played 12 or more minutes in three of her four appearances.

Before Fairfield: Rahn was a two-sport athlete at Amity High School, playing goalkeeper for both the field hockey and women's lacrosse teams. She enjoyed several successful seasons on the field hockey pitch, highlighted by a 21-save effort in the SCC Tournament championship game. She allowed only five goals during the 2019 season as Amity posted a 14-2 record with her performance. She was named to the GameTime All-State Field Hockey Team in 2020. Rahn was a member of the Competitive Edge Field Hockey Team in club play.
