Biography

2021 Season:  Gabby Saxon collected a personal-best six assists over her 21 appearances, just one shy of the team lead. She recorded five of those assists over a four-game period, securing one against Rider, one versus Sacred Heart, one vs. Hofstra, and two in the Saint Francis game. Her other assist came early in the season, setting up the team’s lone goal in a 2-1 setback against Monmouth. Saxon was a regular in the lineup, getting the starting nod in 20 of the team’s 21 games.  She gained entry as a reserve for the only time in 2022 when she came off the bench at Lafayette on October 3. Saxon was selected to the NFHCA National Academic Squad.

2020-21 Season: Saxon played in all seven games of the 2020-21 campaign, garnering one start during her appearances. She gained the starting nod at Hofstra, a game which the Stags went on to win by a 3-2 count. It was in that game that the midfielder registered her only shot of the season, putting the attempt on target.

2019 Season: Saxon started all but one of the team’s 22 games, coming off the bench for the Northeastern game on September 27 She picked up two of her three season assists during that game, setting up the team’s first goal and the squad’s final goal in a 6-4 setback. She also earned an assist in the team’s 5-0 victory against Saint Francis, earning an assist on the team’s first goal. She was very accurate inside the circle, putting three of her five shots on goal. Saxon’s three shots on goal came against Sacred Heart (2 shots) and Long Island University. Her three assists placed fifth among her teammates. She was one of 12 Fairfield student-athletes to play in all 22 games during the 2019 season.

2018 Season: Saxon came off the bench for all seven of her appearances which culminated with her first points of the campaign. She recorded her points off a goal on her only shot of the season, accounting for one of the team’s four goals in a shutout against LIU Brooklyn. Her first three entries of the season came on the road, earning minutes at Lafayette, Drexel, and Temple. She also played home games against Holy Cross, Lehigh, and Colgate before the LIU Brooklyn game.

Before Fairfield: A midfielder from Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School in Pennsylvania, Gabby Saxon was an Honors student who had success with her high school team and her club team, the Main Line Field Hockey Club Mayhem.  She was an AACA (Athletic Association of Catholic Academies) All-Star in 2016, 2017, and 2018 as well as a Pennsylvania PIAA All-Star for the 2017-18 season.  Her high school team won the District 1 Class A Championship in 2017 and Saxon was also named a captain of her the team this past season.
