Biography

2016: All-MAAC First Team…MAAC Tournament MVP…Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week (5/30)…ABCA/Rawlings Northeast All-Regional First Team…NEIBA Division I Player of the Week (5/30)…NEIBA Second Team…NEIBA All Star...In the most decorated season in program history, Salpietro set the program record with 77 hits and total bases (128)…Won the MAAC Tournament MVP and National Player of the Week recognition after hitter .692 (9-for-13) with seven runs scored and five RBI in the MAAC Championship (5/25 – 5/28)…Managed eight three hit contests, including all three games in the tournament…Ended the season on an eight-game hitting streak, hitting .457 (16-for-35) during that span (5/19 – 6/4)…Led the conference in hits (77), and tied for the MAAC lead in homers (10) and total bases (128)…Started the season with a flourish with seven multi-hit games in his first 11 appearances (2/27 – 3/12)…Set a program record as being one of three Stags to start and play in all 58 games…Hit two home runs at Delaware (3/19).  

2015: Preseason All-MAAC…Was the right-handed power threat, leading the team with six home runs…Saw one pitch as a pinch hitter against Sacred Heart and smashed the fast ball over the scoreboard in left field for a two-run shot (4/22)…That home run catapulted the best stretch of his season…He would bat .538 (7-for-13) with five runs scored, four RBI, and three homers over the next four games…Became the first Stag since Sal Mancuso in 2003 to hit a homer in three-straight games…Had the biggest hit of the early season with a home run against No. 1 Florida, which put the Stags down by one run in the opening game (3/10)…Batted .314 (11-for-35) against BCS schools.

Summer League: Played for the Amsterdam Mohawks of the Perfect Game League in Summer 2014, helping them to their third consecutive league championship ... Played for the New Bedford BaySox of the NECBL during Summer 2013.

2014: All-MAAC First Team … All-NEIBA First Team … MAAC Player of the Week (4/22) … Started 54 games … Hit .307 with a team-high 44 RBIs and 36 runs scored … Led team in doubles (16) and homers (5) … Went 11-for-12 in the stolen base department …  Notched 18  multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI games … Had a six-game hitting streak between May 17 and May 23 … Went 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored in the MAAC Championship contest against Canisius …  Had the game-winning, two-run triple in while scoring two runs in the 4-3 victory over Siena in the MAAC Championship … Went 2-for-4 in MAAC Championship win over Manhattan … Went 5-for-10 in the Marist series … Had a five-game hitting streak between April 27 and May 3 … Went 3-for-4 with a walk at Sacred Heart … Named MAAC Player of the Week on April 22 after batting .471 (8-for-17) with seven RBIs and four runs scored over five games … Had a six-game hitting streak between April 12 and April 19 … Was a triple short of the cycle at Monmouth, finishing the day 3-for-5 … Hit first career grand slam at Niagara … Had a six-game hitting streak between March 23 and April 2, four of which were multi-hit efforts … Drove in seven runs against NYIT, with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate … Went 3-for-6 with a double, four RBIs, and a run scored in the series finale against Iona … Had four hits, including two doubles, in the George Mason series … Went 3-for-5 with three runs scored at Richmond.

2013: Made 43 appearances with 40 starts at third base in first season as a Stag ... Hit .248 with 26 RBI, 20 runs scored, 12 walks, and five stolen bases ... Picked up first collegiate hit against George Mason, going 2-for-5 with a run scored ... Drove in two runs against Siena ... Went 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI against Quinnipiac ... Had a 12-game hitting streak between April 6 and April 27 ... Went 3-for-4 with two runs in finale against St. Peter's ... Derove in three runs in series opener with Niagara ... Hit two homers against Iona and finished the game 3-for-4 with two walks, three RBI, and three runs scored ... went 2-for-3 with a homer and four RBI against Canisius.

High School: Earned four varsity letters as a shortstop at Somerset-Berkley ... Hit .365 as a senior captain ... Named the Raiders' team MVP twice.
