Biography

2020: Played seven games in the field and saw three appearances coming out of the bullpen…On the mound he had two scoreless appearances coming against UNC Greensboro (2/23) and 1.2 perfect frames at Stetson (3/11)…At the plate, he collected three hits…Scored two runs against Boston College (2/29)…Drove in a run against Harvard (3/6).

2019: MAAC All-Academic Team…Pitched 18.1 innings while striking out 11 and posting a 5.30 ERA…Did not allow a run in 13 of 15 appearances while posting a 1.18 ERA during that stretch (3/20 – 5/14)…Had five-straight scoreless outings which lasted 7.0 innings (4/7 – 5/1)…Picked up the save as he struck out the side against Central Connecticut (3/26)…Recorded the victory with two scoreless frames against Saint Peter’s (4/13).

2018: MAAC All-Academic Team…Saw success on the mound and in the batter’s box as Fairfield’s only two-way player during the season…As a pitcher, he did not allow a run in 12 of his final 13 appearances and supported a team-best 1.77 ERA in 20.1 innings…Racked up a 13.2 innings scoreless streak that spanned nine appearances (3/4 – 4/18)…Struck out four in three innings at Central Connecticut (3/27)…Did not allow more than one hit in his final eight appearances…Pitched to a 0.49 ERA in his final 13 outings…Picked up a save at Bethune-Cookman (3/14) and a win against Niagara (3/31)…As a hitter, he recorded a .305 batting average with 18 hits in 59 at-bats…Had six multi-hit games out of his 18 outings…Collected three hits and drove in two at Yale (4/4).

2017: Two-way player for the Stags that amassed 50 at-bats and 27 innings pitched during his rookie season…On the mound, the side-armer collected an even 1.00 ERA, allowing just one earned run in 24.2 innings which spanned over three months…Gave up two earned runs at Lamar (2/25) but would not allow another one until May 18 at Quinnipiac, where he picked up the win…Had a span of five appearances where he allowed a lone walk in his six innings of work (4/5 – 4/22)…At the plate he collected three multi-hit games and collected three doubles during the season…Belted his first collegiate home run to open the scoring at Rider (3/24). 

BEFORE FAIRFIELD: Halpin, an occasional side arm thrower from Glastonbury High School was a three-time CCC All-Conference selection and a two-time Connecticut Baseball All-Star.  During his junior season, Halpin batted .491 with a 4-1 record on the mound and a 1.40 ERA. In his final high school season, Halpin hit .430 and recorded a 3.00 ERA. He showed the potential to strikeout hitters, fanning eight batters in a three-inning span in a complete game shutout against Southington.
