PHOENIX, Md. – The Fairfield University women’s golf team continued its fall schedule this week at the Tignanelli Towson Invitational. The Stags placed 11th at the two-day event, which was held at the Eagle’s Nest Country Club in Phoenix, Maryland.
Ceilie Reynolds and Molly Hair each carded a two-day 166 to lead the Stags, with Hair firing the low round for a Fairfield golfer with an opening-day 81. Taylor Rogers added a 170 at the tournament with Jackie Schofield posting a 173 and Danielle Dalessandro adding a 174.
The Stags’ 11th-place outing slotted them ahead of Hampton and Delaware State on the team leaderboard. Fairfield was one spot behind MAAC foe Monmouth on the ledger.
Host Towson won the tournament by two strokes, fueled by a weekend-best 295 on Sunday to stay just ahead of Bethune-Cookman over the 36-hole affair. Individual medalist honors went to Longwood’s Courtney Tolton, who carded a 148 to edge Towson’s Alix Lowe and Bethune-Cookman’s Saraid Ruiz by a single stroke.
Next weekend, the Stags head north to Hanover, N.H. to tee off at the Dartmouth Women’s Invitational on Sept. 24-25.
