FAIRFIELD, Conn. – After 14-day hiatus from competition, the Fairfield University men’s and women’s cross country teams are back on the course this Friday at the Br. Doyle Meet of Champions. The race is hosted by Iona at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
The Stags opened the 2016 campaign on Sept. 3 at the Marist Invitational. Sam Daly paced the men’s team to a third place finish in the 6K race with a time of 19:42.6. The women were led in their 5K trek by Stef Vickers with a mark of 21:02.3.
The Br. Doyle Meet of Champions is the first 8K for the Fairfield men this season and the second 5K for the women. Friday’s meet will also be the Stags’ first of three races at Van Cortlandt Park this fall. The venerable course will also host the NCAA Northeast Region Championship on Nov. 11 and the ECAC and IC4A Championships on Nov. 19.
Next weekend, the Stags will host the annual Fr. Victor F. Leeber, S.J. Invitational on campus on Saturday, Sept. 24.
