Colleen Young to Swim Four Events at Paralympic Games

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Freshman swimmer Colleen Young will be competing at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio beginning on September 7. This will be her second trip to the Paralympics as she competed in the London Games in 2012.

Young will take part in four events in the span of eight days. For her, competition begins on the 10th with the 200 individual medley, then the following day with the 100 breaststroke. On the 14th, she will compete in the 50 freestyle before wrapping up her games on the 17th in the 100 backstroke.

Last month at the U.S. Paralympic Trials, she set a new American and Pan American record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:16.72. She also placed first in the 50 freestyle (28.54) and 100 backstroke (1:13.75). In her fourth event she finished second in the 200 individual medley clocking in at 2:31.82.
