LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Olivia Brooks carded an opening-round 78 (+6) to lead the Fairfield University women’s golf team at the 2016 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship. The Stags sit in seventh place following their first 18 holes at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course.
Brooks is tied for fifth place with three other golfers, four strokes off the individual pace set by Siena’s Kristen Bromley and Quinnipiac’s Julia Kemmling.
The remainder of the Stags’ quintet of golfers finished the first round of action within five strokes of each other. The pack was led by Danielle Dalessandro (85) followed by Molly Hair (87), Jackie Schofield (89) and Michelle Applegate (90).
Quinnipiac is the early leader in the clubhouse with 54 holes left to play. The Bobcats carded a 311 to stake themselves to an eight-stroke lead over second-place Monmouth (319).
Fairfield will tee off in the second round from Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course on Saturday morning. Sunday’s final round will feature live coverage on ESPN3.
