Men's Golf Back on the Links at Towson Invitational

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men’s golf team returns to action this weekend at the Towson Invitational in Grasonville, Md. The two-day, 36-hole event will be held at the Prospect Bay Country Club beginning on Saturday, April 2 and concluding on Sunday, April 3.

The Stags are one of 15 teams at this weekend’s event. In addition to the host Tigers of Towson, notable opponents in the field include MAAC foes Siena and Rider, crosstown rival Sacred Heart and reigning NEC Champion Robert Morris.

Fairfield’s most recent competition was a seventh-place showing at the Lonnie Barton Invitational at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla. Kevin Duncan placed ninth on the individual leaderboard – six shots off the pace – and Eric Austin added a 19th-place score in the Stags’ first outing of the spring.

Fairfield is the preseason favorite in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference following a third place finish at last spring’s championship. The Stags’ fall slate was highlighted by their first-ever ECAC Championship, which they won by a single stroke over Bryant. Fairfield was led on the course by Duncan – the individual ECAC Champion who was tabbed as MAAC Golfer of the Month in both September and October.

After this weekend, the spring schedule features three one-day tournaments prior to the 2016 MAAC Championship set for April 22-24 at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
