DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Olivia Brooks posted a final-round 82 to lead the Fairfield University women’s golf team to fifth place at the Lonnie Barton Invitational. Brooks landed at 16th on the individual leaderboard in the Stags’ first tournament of the spring. The event was held at LPGA International in Daytona Beach.
Fairfield’s cumulative score of 677 was in the top half of the 10-team field, finishing 10 strokes behind fourth-place Sacred Heart and eight shots ahead of sixth-place Wagner. Albany ran away with team title with a 637 – 18 shots ahead of second-place St. John’s.
For the Stags, Molly Hair was one stroke behind Brooks with a 169 (86-83) followed by Michelle Applegate’s 170 (84-86). Rounding out Fairfield’s quintet on the links today were Danielle Dalessandro (173, 89-84) and Jackie Schofield (178, 86-92).
Anna Kim of St. John’s had an eight-stroke cushion atop the individual leaderboard with a 146 (73-73).
The Stags return to competition on April 9-10 at the Hartford Women’s Invitational at Tumble Brook Country Club in Bloomfield, Conn.
