DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Kevin Duncan fired an opening-round 74 (+2) to lead the Fairfield University men’s golf team through the first 18 holes of the Lonnie Barton Invitational. The Stags will play the final round on the Jones Course at LPGA International tomorrow.
Fairfield aggregated a score of 325 in the opening round. While IPFW has pulled away from the pack with a 286 (-2) team mark, the Stags remain in the hunt at a manageable 10 strokes short of second-place Wagner.
Duncan’s 74 slots him in a tie for sixth place, four strokes off the individual pace. Thomas Urciuoli adds a 77 (+5) for the Stags followed by Eric Austin (77), Kellen Jordan (83) and Alex Ferrante (86).
The top three opening-round scores all belong to frontrunner IPFW. Zach Schroeder and Devin Jenkins sit atop the leaderboard at -2 followed by an even par carded by Jake Groninger.
