Swimming and Diving Hawaii Trip First Reflection

The Fairfield swimming and diving team soaks up the sun in Hawaii for their annual training trip. Players on the squad will give us an in-depth look at their experience right here on FairfieldStags.com.

HONOLULU, HAWAII -        Aloha Stags!

After a long 12 hour flight and setting our clocks back five hours we have officially arrived in Honolulu, Hawaii! While it looks like paradise outside, we are here for one purpose: to train.

We have been in Hawaii for three days now and our journey to success at MAAC Championships has certainly begun. Practiced started as soon as we got off the plane with a rooftop dry land work out on top of our condominium overlooking Waikiki beach.  The next morning, the real practices begun as we headed to the pool at 7:00am for our first swim practice. While the first practice was definitely a challenge, we all had one thought in mind, push through the pain so we can enjoy the beach.

Lucky for us, we are staying a short walk away from Hawaii’s famous Waikiki beach. So, when we’re not working hard at the pool, we’ve been having some fun in the sun down at the beach! We have been practicing from 8am-10pm and then from 5:30pm-7:30pm so, we’ve been spending most of our time in between relaxing enjoying the clear blue water and picturesque scene at Waikiki beach together as a team.

In Hawaii, our schedule is challenging, every practice is two hours long and we are swimming twice a day! We have made it through four tough practices featuring stroke, distance, IM, dry land, and of course underwater and we still have 11 more to go. That said, our hard work will surely pay off as pushing ourselves past our breaking point will hopefully ensure success at MAAC Championships!

Keep up the hard work!
