Swimming and Diving Hawaii Trip Final Reflection

Swimming and Diving Hawaii Trip Final Reflection

The Fairfield swimming and diving team soaks up the sun in Hawaii for their annual training trip. Players on the squad will give us an in-depth look at their experience right here on FairfieldStags.com.

HONOLULU, HAWAII - Today marked the Stags' final day of training here in Hawaii. As a senior, I never thought that this moment would actually come. The team did an awesome job the entire 10 days we were here; we definitely trained our hardest. The entire trip the practices given to us by Coach Janelle pushed us to our breaking points, but we all made it through stronger and faster and ready for championships. It was awesome to see sites such as Pearl Harbor and Lanikai Beach, and to be able to travel around Oahu.

As a senior, I was one of the only people on the team to have been to Hawaii before, and it was great to be back. The warm weather and awesome places are an added plus to being able to train outside and get tan at the same time. I'm extremely grateful for the chance to be able to come back to Hawaii one last time before I graduate.

Another reason I have always loved training trips is that the team gets so much closer. We spend so much time with each other throughout the entire trip, both in the pool and on the beach, the bonds with our teammates get that much stronger. Plus, having each other's backs through all the hard practices brings us closer as well. It was great to see this happen yet again, and I'm proud to call every single person on this team my teammate.

We are a month out from the MAAC Championship now, and we have some great things waiting for us. I never thought the day would come that I would be leaving to come back home on my final training trip, and I'm sure I speak for my fellow seniors as well when I say that it certainly feels strange. However, we are all excited for our final MAAC Championships, and are looking forward to ending our swimming careers with a bang! I wouldn't want to finish out my season with any other team, and I can't wait to see what we bring at the Championship.
