The Fairfield swimming and diving team soaks up the sun in Hawaii for their annual training trip. Players on the squad will give us an in-depth look at their experience right here on FairfieldStags.com.
HONOLULU, HAWAII - As our trip to Hawaii may be nearing the end, we sure are not winding down. Throughout the week, the divers have had separate practices from the swimmers at different times and sometimes even different pools. Fortunately for the divers, we have had the opportunity to train at the same time as other schools, all with their own unique techniques and skills. Learning from other divers is almost as helpful as learning from the coach! The combination of two practices a day along with dryland sessions and using the trampoline to work on form has very much prepared us to take on our last few dual meets and the upcoming MAAC championship meet!
Although the team may not be together during practice, we reconnect while exploring the beautiful island between training sessions. While every day has had perfect beach weather, that we very gratefully took advantage of, today the team was pretty active outside of the pool. Everybody split up and enjoyed their desirable activity of choice including tours of Pearl Harbor, visiting the Manoa Falls waterfall, exploring the local zoo, and even renting jet skis at the beach! Us athletes may be beach bums but we always look forward to changing the routine up a bit!
In the next few days practices will continue to challenge both the swimmers and divers. The team is looking forward to a sunrise hike tomorrow morning and the divers have a dual meet against the University of Hawaii! Stay tuned to see how the final days of training in paradise goes for your favorite stags!
