MIDDLETOWN, N.J. – The Fairfield University women’s golf team placed second at the Hawk Quad Match on Wednesday at the par-72 Navesink Country Club. Emma Ritzmann and Jackie Schofield each carded an 82 to finish three strokes off the pace.
The Stags turned in a collective 333, seven strokes behind tournament champion Hartford. Fairfield bested host Monmouth (335) and Fairleigh Dickinson (337) to lock down second place in the quad match.
Following Ritzmann and Schofield for the Stags were Danielle Dalessandro at 84 and Michelle Applegate with an 85. Also competing for Fairfield were Olivia Brooks (87) and Sara Quinn (93).
Hartford’s win was led by medalist Brittany Ferrante, who posted a 79. The Hawks’ Meghan Ryan and Monmouth’s Sarah Kokotajlo each carded an 80 to round out the top three individual performers.
Picked to finish fourth in the MAAC Preseason Poll, the Stags will return to action on April 24-26 for the 2015 MAAC Championship at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
