Women's Tennis Falls to Providence, 6-1

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Fairfield University women's tennis team fell to Providence, 6-1, on Friday, March 20, at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.

Senior Allison Radde scored the lone point for the Stags when she edged the Friars’ Nicole Cyterski, 6-4, 5-7, 10-5, at No. 1 singles.

At No. 1 singles, Radde and Karen McKeough fell to Alana Prinos and Emma Burgess, 8-7 (3-1) while the Fairfield duo of Nicole Aragones and Sarah Stuhlmann fell to the Friars’ Amanda Pitocco and Jennifer DeLuca, 8-2, in the No. 2 spot. In the No. 3 slot was Helen Abbot and Kaila Nelson, who fell, 8-5, to Providence’s Hannah Zangari and Cyterski.

At No. 2 singles, freshman Stuhlmann fell, 6-1, 6-2, to Prinos. In the No. 3 slot was rookie Aragones who was edged by a count of 6-2, 4-6, 10-4, by DeLuca while Nelson fell, 6-3, 6-3, to Burgess at No. 3 singles. Rounding out play for Fairfield was Erika Nannery who fell, 6-2, 6-3, to Providence’s Pitocco in the No. 5 slot while Abbot was edged by Zangari, 6-0, 6-1, in the No. 6 slot.

Fairfield (3-2; 2-0 MAAC) is scheduled to bring competition home to the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts. The Stags are slated to host Hofstra on Saturday, March 21 at 11:00 a.m.
