The Fairfield University men’s and women’s basketball teams head to the Times Union Center Albany this weekend for the 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships. The Stags’ men’s team begins tournament action on Thursday, March 5 at 7 p.m., and the Fairfield women will first take the court on Friday, March 6 at 9:30 p.m.

The 10th-seeded team on the bracket, the Fairfield men’s team will challenge seventh-seeded Saint Peter’s in the MAAC Championship First Round on Thursday. The Stags and Peacocks split the regular season series with each team earning a victory on their home court. The winner will advance to meet second-seeded Rider on Saturday, March 7 at 5:30 p.m.
Women’s Basketball
MAAC Championship Quarterfinals vs. Niagara ● Friday, March 6 ● 9:30 p.m.

As the third-seeded squad in the MAAC, the Stags’ women’s team earned a bye to the quarterfinal round. Fairfield will meet sixth-seeded Niagara, which topped Manhattan by a score of 57-51 in Thursday’s opening round. The Stags were swept by the Purple Eagles in the regular season, including a last-second, 66-64 loss at Alumni Hall in January.
