GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Fairfield University women’s golf team is in fifth place after the first day of competition at the Wagner Spring Seahawk Invitational. The Stags shot a collective 352 on the par 72 Quail Valley Golf Course.
Individually, sophomore Sara Quinn is tied for sixth overall after carding an 82 (+10). Junior Kate Heffernan is tied for 19th overall after finishing with a score of 88 in the first round.
Michelle Applegate followed with a score of 89, to finish tied for 21st overall. Freshman Jackie Schofield shot a 93 this afternoon while rookie Chelsea Donovan was 17 strokes behind with a 110 for the first round.
St. Francis (Pa.) is in first place after shooting a 328 during the first round. The host Seahawks are in second with a 340 while Robert Morris is a close third with a team score of 343. Fairleigh Dickinson is in fourth place with a score of 346. Monmouth finished in sixth with a 364 while Niagara followed in seventh with a team score of 375. Individually, Wagner’s Noelle Maertz finished in the top spot after carding a 77 (+5) this afternoon.
The Stags will close out competition at the Wagner Spring Seahawk Invitational today.
