Men's Tennis Falls to St. John's, 6-1

HARRISON, N.Y. -- The Fairfield University men's tennis team fell to St. John's University, 6-1, this afternoon at the Life Time Athletic Center. Sophomore Ofir Solomon scored the lone point for the Stags.
 
Fairfield's point of the day came at No. 2 singles where Solomon edged the Red Storm's Lucas Hejhal, 7-5, 6-4.

At No. 1 singles, George Tioutine fell to St. John's R.J. Del Nunzio, 6-3, 6-0. In the three spot, Dennis Zlobinsky dropped to the Red Storm's Robert Livi, 6-2, 6-4. Cameron Amyot fell, 6-1, 6-4, to Michael-John Every in the No. 4 spot. Bjorn Merinder was clipped by St. John's Freddy Ruiz Acevedo, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 5 singles while Peter Colliard dropped 6-0, 6-0 to the Red Storm's Gary Kushnirovich in the six spot. 

In doubles play, Fairfield duo Tesmond/Amyot fell to St. John's duo Hejhal/Vaidik Munshaw, 8-3. At the second spot, Zlobinsky/Tioutine were clipped by Del Nunzio/Erick Reyes, 8-4. At No. 3 doubles, the Red Storm's Every/Livi edged Stags pair Solomon/Merinder, 8-2.
 
Fairfield (7-3) is scheduled to open action on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts on March 20 as they host Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Quinnipiac University.
