EDISON, N.J. – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) released the 2014-2015 Preseason Coaches’ Poll. The Fairfield women were picked seventh, totaling 31 points, while the men’s team was picked eighth, tallying 16 points.
On the men’s side, the three-time defending MAAC men’s swimming & diving champions Rider University was selected to win a fourth consecutive title this year. Rider earned 80 points, collecting eight-of-nine coaches’ first place votes. Marist College was picked to finish second in the poll, with 72 points, while Canisius College tallied 60 points to place third. Saint Peter’s was selected fourth (48), while Bryant University, who joined the league two seasons ago, was picked fifth with 41 point. They were followed by Iona (37), Niagara (36), Fairfield (16), and Manhattan (15).
On the women’s side, the five-time defending MAAC women’s swimming & diving champions Marist College were selected to win a sixth consecutive title this year. Marist earned 79 points, collecting eight-of-nine coaches’ first place votes. Rider was picked to finish second in the poll, with 72 points, while Canisius College tallied 63 points to place third. Saint Peter’s was selected fourth (48), while Iona was picked fifth with 42 points. They were followed by Siena (39), Fairfield (31), Niagara (21), and Manhattan (10).
The 2015 MAAC Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships will be held on February 11-14 at the Burt Flickinger Center in Buffalo, N.Y.
Fairfield will make their first splash of the 2014-15 campaign on Saturday, October 18 when the Stags host conference foe Manhattan at 1pm at the RecPlex Pool.
