WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The Fairfield women’s tennis team advances to the MAAC Championship match with their 4-1 victory over Loyola Maryland this afternoon.  The Stags will be defending their 2012 Championship title in hopes of returning to the NCAA Tournament. 
 
Fairfield began the day by capturing the doubles point with wins in the one and three spots.  At No. 3, Victoria Pirrello and Maggie McLaughlin paired up to defeat Hoy/Ash, 8-4.  The match in the two spot was the second to finish which tied up the score at one apiece.  In a battle at No. 1 doubles, Yajima/Carolina Koladzyn edged All-MAAC First Team duo Morgus/Hughes, 9-7. 
 
The Stags carried the momentum into singles play clinching the match after just four matches finished.  2013 MAAC Player of the Year, Monica Yajima breezed through her match in the one spot defeating Megan Hahn, 6-0, 6-2.  All-MAAC Second Team selection, Sharissa Ryan, followed with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Haleigh Morgus at No. 2 singles.  Rounding out the wins for the Stags, and capturing the semifinal win was sophomore Allison Radde at No. 3 singles.  The Stag faced Emily Hughes and came out on top, 6-4, 6-3. 
 
Fairfield advances to the MAAC Championship which will be played at Mercer County Park in West Windsor, N.J. tomorrow morning at 10AM.  The Stags will face No. 2 seed, Marist College, who defeated Niagara University this morning, 4-2.
