Day One Results
BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Fairfield University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams opened action at the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Swimming & Diving Championships at the Burt Flickinger Center at Erie Community College.
Sophomore
Tyler Conley placed third overall in the 50y freestyle with a time of 20.79 seconds which broke his own school record and missed the NCAA B cut by 0.48 seconds. In the preliminaries this morning, Conley initially broke the program record after touching in 20.88 seconds The previous standard was 21.06 seconds set in 2010.
Rookie
Connor Daly placed seventh overall with a time of 1:54.56. In the preliminaries this morning, Daly broke the program record in the men’s 200y IM with a time of 1:54.08 to advance to tonight’s final. The previous standard was 1:55.76 set by Brian Friedlander in 2009 and Drew Kingman in 2008.
Senior
Paul Bimmler placed 15th overall in the 50y freestyle by finishing with a time of 21.75 seconds.
Sophomore diver
Ashlee Steinberger placed third overall in the women’s 1-meter diving competition with a score of 208.62. Freshman
Demi Marathas placed 15th overall with a score of 157.92 while sophomore
Lauren Kemple placed 13th overall with a mark of 163.28.
Freshman
Kelly Mulligan won the consolation final of the women’s 200y IM to finish ninth overall after clocking a personal best and ECAC-qualifying time of 2:09.81, just .04 off the program record.
Sophomore
Meredith LaBerge placed 11th overall in the women’s 500y freestyle with a time of 5:09.74.
In the 50y freestyle,
Liz Avery finished 12th overall with a personal best of 24.80 seconds while senior
Cacky Keating touched in 25.67 seconds to place 16th overall.
On the men’s 3-meter,
Evan Barr placed ninth overall with a score of 212.00 while senior
Ryan Krebs finished 12th with a mark of 202.85.
Joe Dowling placed 15th with a score of 181.95 while
Will Sullivan placed 16th with a 181.05, finishing out their day of competition.
The women’s 200y freestyle of Avery,
Michelle Pleban, Suzy Lawlor, and
Margaret Osmulski posted a time of 1:39.15. The 400y freestyle relay of Mulligan, Lawlor, Keating, and Osmulski had a time of 4:00.72.
The men’s 200y freestyle of
Jay Cook, Cody Parker, Bimmler, and Conley posted a time of 1:25.73 to finish seventh overall. The 400y medley relay of Bimmler, Daly, Parker, and Conley posted a time of 3:32.34.

Thursday’s Prelims
In the prelims of the women’s 500y freestyle, Margaret Osmulski (5:14.11), Alyssa Acompora (5:14.81), and Kate Ansani (5:19.37) each posted personal bests and ECAC-qualifying times.
In the women’s 200y IM, Jaimee Carrazza had a personal best of 2:20.71 while Lisa Tkach clocked a 2:24.49.
In the 50y freestyle, Suzy Lawlor just missed the cut but posted a personal best of 25.37 seconds. Emily Pedrick (25.63) and Michelle Pleban (25.65) each had ECAC-qualifying times while Meghan Weiser had a time of 26.56 seconds.
In the prelims of the men’s 500y freestyle, Kevin Greener just missed the cut finishing with a personal best of 4:47.67. Cody Parker (4:49.54) and Jay Cook (4:50.49) each had ECAC-qualifying times while Andrew Robinson (4:54.35) and Nick Cannone (4:58.29) each had personal bests.
In the 200y IM, Kevin Kett had a personal best of 2:06.20 while Kyle Rozanitis had a personal best of 2:08.69.
In the 50y freestyle, Rich Straub had a time of 22.57 seconds while Shane Sullivan finished in 23.03 seconds, both were personal bests.
