In fulfilling the Jesuit ideals of Fairfield University, the Stags are involved in many community service and service learning projects throughout the year. Some events, such as Reading Days in the Bridgeport Public Schools and Girl Scout Day, are local. Others take Fairfield student-athletes to different states, and even different countries.
The Stags and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) also sponsor fundraisers throughout the year including toy and food drives, the Boxes for the Troops program, and the Relay for Life. Many of the varsity programs also participated in several other walks to raise money for breast cancer while all the teams were active in the University’s Hunger Clean-Up.
In addition, Fairfield is an active participant in the WBCA’s Pink Zone initiative to help raise awareness for breast cancer during the women’s basketball seasons. In addition, the golf team launched the Putting for Pink initiative while women’s lacrosse began its Sticking It to Cancer event. Many of Fairfield’s athletic teams, including men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, and men’s and women’s lacrosse, host clinics for local youth.
The Stags also host shoe and clothing drives as well as sponsoring select United Way initiatives.
