Cross Country Heads to MAAC Championship on Friday


The Fairfield University men's and women's cross country teams will head Van Cortlandt Park on November 1 for the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships. The women's 6K is set for 12pm followed by the men's 8K at 12:45pm.

A Look Back at the 2012 MAAC Championship - Men: It was a successful morning at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. last season as two Stags earned All-MAAC honors for the first time in program history. Connor Kelley placed 13th overall with an 8K time of 25:14.37 while Howie Rosas placed 15th overall with a time of 25:20.14. As a team, the Fairfield men placed fifth overall. Iona College repeated as MAAC Champions while the Gaels' Mitch Goose won the individual title in 24:08.08. Marist College was the runner-up while Rider University was third. Canisius College took fourth.

A Look Back at the 2012 MAAC Championship - Women: Last season at the MAAC Championships, Maureen Crimmins became the first Stag in a decade to earn All-MAAC honors while the Stags placed fifth overall, up one spot from the previous season. Crimmins posted a personal best in the 6K with a time of 22:28.92 to place 13th overall. Iona College repeated as women's champions while the Gaels' Marion Joly-Testault posted a winning time of 21:07.98. Marist College was the runner-up while Rider University took third. Loyola University Maryland finished fourth.

Looking Ahead: The Stags will head to the NCAA Regionals on November 15 followed by the ECAC/IC4A Championships on November 23 to finish out their 2013 campaign.
