Nearly 60 Percent Of Student-Athletes Named To 3.0

Fairfield University's student-athletes excelled in the classroom once again with nearly 60 percent achieving at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) during the Spring 2012 semester. In all, 242 student-athletes earned spots in the Athletic Department's 3.0 Club while 117 of those student-athletes were named to the University's Dean's List.

Women's Soccer and Men’s Lacrosse led all programs with the most selections to the 3.0 Club, with each program seeing 23 of their student-athletes on the list. Women’s Lacrosse and Women’s Swimming & Diving each had 22 student-athletes included in the 3.0 Club. In addition, Women’s Swimming & Diving and Women’s Soccer each had 13 student-athletes achieve Dean’s List status.

Other notables include Women's Cross Country which had 15 of their 16 student-athletes reaching 3.0 status, nine of which were named to the Dean’s List. Volleyball had 12 of its 15 members secure a 3.0 GPA, with seven of those being named to the Dean’s List, while seven of the eight student-athletes on the Women’s Golf roster achieved at least a 3.0 GPA. Women’s Rowing had 17 student-athletes reach 3.0 Club status while Field Hockey had 12 student-athletes.

Baseball had 15 student-athletes while Men's Swimming & Diving, Men’s Cross Country, and Men’s Soccer each had 12 student-athletes achieve a 3.0 GPA or better in the spring.
