Women's Tennis Captures 5-2 Victory over Siena

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The Fairfield women’s tennis team defeated Siena College 5-2 this afternoon to improve their MAAC record to 6-0.
 
The Stags started strong capturing one and two doubles.  For the first time this season, sophomore Monica Yajima paired up with freshman Allison Radde for an impressive outing.  The duo defeated Jasleen Sandhu and Nicole Ross without giving up a game, 8-0.  In the two spot, Sharissa Ryan and Nikki Jackson took on Danielle Crill and Cassandra Braz finishing with an 8-5 victory.
 
Fairfield had a strong showing in singles as well.  In the one spot, Yajima defeated Sandhu in straight sets, 6-3, 7-5 while Ryan gave up just one game in her 6-0, 6-1 victory over Crill.  At No. 3 singles, Radde defeated Brittany Filip 6-0, 6-2.  The final victory for the Stags came from Emma Samson in the five spot over Ross, 6-3, 6-1.  Junior Nikki Jackson battled against Braz capturing the first set, but dropped to the Saint 3-6, 6-4, 10-5.  Casey Miller played her first conference singles match of the season in the six spot, dropping to Elora Benfer 6-1, 6-3.
 
The Stags finish MAAC regular season play this Sunday on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts as they host Loyola College Maryland at 10am.  The women's team will then take the week off from dual-play to prepare for MAAC Championship Weekend.
