Women's Tennis Comes Up Short Against Quinnipiac,

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Fairfield women’s tennis team came close but couldn’t finish against the Quinnipiac University Bobcats Tuesday afternoon.  The Stags dropped to their interstate foe, 3-4 taking them to 10-6 overall this season but remaining undefeated in the MAAC.
 
Fairfield started strong earning victories in two of the three doubles matches, giving them the lone doubles point.  At No. 2 double, Allison Radde and Sharissa Ryan defeated the duo of Raynor and Launie, 8-5 while Nikki Jackson and Victoria Pirrello defeated Cristescu and Crystal 8-1.
 
After five matches of singles play, the score was all tied up at three a piece with No. 5 singles to conclude.  Nikki Jackson battled with Lavinia Cristescu having won the first set 6-4, but couldn’t put the match away.  The Stag dropped to Cristescu 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 to give Quinnipiac the 4-3 dual win.
 
Fairfield captured two matches in singles at the one and two spot.  Monica Yajima defeated Rachel Cantor in two straight sets, 6-2, 6-4 to improve to an overall No. 1 singles record of 13-2.  Allison Radde secured the final win for the Stags against Jacqueline Raynor in the two spot, 6-2, 6-2. 
 
Fairfield will play their second to last conference dual in Loudonville, N.Y. this Friday, April 20 against Siena College at 1pm.  Closing out the weekend the Stags will finish MAAC play as they face Loyola University (Md.), at home on the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts at 10am.
