STAMFORD, Conn. – Fairfield men’s tennis opened its dual-match season tonight with a 4-3 win over Army. Doubles proved to be the decider in the contest, as Fairfield swept all three matches to gain the crucial first point.
Double winners on the night included newcomers
Ian Tesmond and
George Tioutine, plus veteran captain
Dan Sauter. Tioutine, playing in his first match this season after undergoing shoulder surgery this past summer, clinched the match with a dominant performance at number 5 singles.
The win marked Fairfield's first ever victory over Army after losing their first four matches.
