BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Fairfield University men’s and women’s cross country teams had a solid Friday afternoon at the 2011 Paul Short Run presented by Brooks on the campus of Lehigh University.
The Stags men’s team placed 13th out of 46 teams in the College Brown 8K while the women’s team finished 25th out of 44 teams in the College Brown 6K.
Freshman
Connor Kelley was the Stags top-finisher for the third time this season, placing 29th out of 382 runners with a time of 26:17. Junior
Kyle Short was next with a time of 26:54 while sophomore
Howie Rosas was close behind in 26:55. Freshman
Kyle Wegner clocked a time of 27:05 while classmate
Jake Ruskan finished in 27:15. Sophomore
John Lobo posted a time of 27:26 while senior
Vin Ferrer rounded out the scorers with a time of in 27:34.
Also competing for the Stags were freshman
Sam Tooley who had a time of 27:49, junior
Greg Chase who finished in 28:00 and senior
Steve Flanagan who finished in 28:03.
In the women’s 6K, junior
Sam Goodnow was the Stags top-finisher, placing 77th out of 385 runners with a time of 23:39. Freshman
Maureen Crimmins was next in a time of 24:02 while classmate
Danielle Renzi forged a time of 24:21. Senior
Kristen Golen was right on Renzi’s heels, clocking a time of 24:22. Freshman
Cate Forte posted a time of 24:25, senior
Lauren Londregan had a time of 24:30 while senior
Emily Davis rounded out the top-seven with a time of 24:41.
Also running for the Stags were sophomore
Molly Leidig who finished in 24:42, senior
Caroline Riley who finished in 24:45, and junior
Meghan Sullivan who finished in 25:09.
Iona College won the College Brown Men’s 8K, while Rider University was fifth. The Stags were the next MAAC team to place while Canisius College was 19th, Manhattan was 36th, Niagara University was 42nd, and Siena College was 45th.
On the women’s side, Iona won the College Brown 6K, while Marist College was third. Rider placed 16th followed by Canisius in 20th and Fairfield in 25th. Niagara was 35th while Siena was 44th.
Fairfield returns to action on October 15 as it hosts the Fr. O’Neil Invitational. The women’s 5K begins at 10:30am while the men’s 8K begins at 11:15am.
