Cross Country Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS - The Fairfield University men’s and women’s cross country programs received U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team honors for the third consecutive year.
 
The women’s team had a GPA of 3.60 while the men’s team had a GPA of 3.45 during the Fall 2010 semester.
 
For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative GPA and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA Regional Championships.
 
A record total of 192 Division I women’s programs received USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors, up from 2009’s total of 176. Villanova was named the 2010 NCAA Division I USTFCCCA Women’s Cross Country Scholar Team of the Year for the second consecutive year. A record total of 152 Division I men’s programs received USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors, up from 2009’s total of 135. Florida State was named the 2010 NCAA Division I USTFCCCA Men’s Cross Country Scholar Team of the Year.
 
The Stags boasted one of the highest team GPA for both men’s and women’s programs at Fairfield University during Fall 2010. All 15 of the 17 members of the women’s team had at least a 3.0 GPA during the fall with 12 of those achieving University Dean’s List status. For the men’s team 13 of the 14 harriers on the squad had at least a 3.0 GPA. Sixteen Stags were also named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) All-Academic Team.
