BRONX, N.Y. – The Fairfield University men’s cross country team wrapped up their 2011 campaign with a third place finish in the University Race of the IC4A Championship this afternoon. It is the highest finish ever by a Fairfield team at the event.
Sophomore
Howie Rosas placed 12th overall traversing the 5-mile course in a time of 26:22. Freshman
Jake Ruskan was 15th with a time of 26:27 while junior
Kyle Short was 22nd with a time of 26:45. In his final race as a Stag, senior
Steve Flanagan clocked a time of 26:55 to finish 30th overall. Sophomore
John Lobo had a time of 26:57 while sophomore
Brian Cleary and freshman
Connor Kelley rounded out the Stags top-seven with times of 27:13 and 27:25, respectively.
Freshman
Kyle Wegner posted a time of 27:32 while senior
Vin Ferrer finished in 27:42. Senior
Matt Brunelle clocked a time of 27:50 and was followed by junior
Greg Chase in 28:17 and junior
Dylan Fisher in 29:33.
The women’s team also finished off the season well, placing 12th out of 22 teams in a very competitive ECAC University race.
Freshman
Maureen Crimmins was the first Stag across the line in the women’s 5K, posting a personal best of 19:01 to finish 23rd overall. In her final race as a Stag, senior
Kristen Golen posted a time of 19:05 to place 27th overall. Junior
Sam Goodnow recorded a time of 19:22 while freshman
Danielle Renzi had a time of 19:39. Senior
Lauren Londregan recorded a time of 19:44 while sophomore
Molly Leidig finished in 19:54. Freshman
Cate Forte rounded out the Fairfield top-seven with a time of 20:14.
In their final race at Fairfield, senior
Emily Davis had a time of 20:15, senior
Nikki Livesey finished in 20:28, senior
Kelly Kramer clocked a 20:39 and
Caroline Riley had a time of 20:43. Junior
Meghan Sullivan had a time of 21:18.
