NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The Fairfield University men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams wrapped up competition at the Central Connecticut State University Blue Devil Duals on Saturday afternoon.
On the women’s side, senior
Michelle Yoshida took third in the 100y freestyle with a time of 54.90 seconds. Sophomore
Margaret Osmulski was fourth in the 400y IM with a time of 4:49.70 and fifth in the 200y IM with a time of 2:16.20.
Sophomore
Suzy Lawlor placed fifth in the 100y breaststroke with a time of 1:10.99. Junior
Cacky Keating was fifth in the 200y freestyle with a time of 2:01.98. Senior
Aly Criscuolo took eighth in the 100y butterfly with a time of 1:05.28 while freshman
Lisa Tkach was eighth in the 100y back with a time of 1:05.73. In the 1000y freestyle, freshman
Meredith LaBerge placed fifth with a time of 11:15.06 while senior
Norah Gentile was sixth in a time of 11:26.21.
The 200y medley relay of Yoshida, Lawlor, Keating, and
Emily Pedrick took fourth with a time of 1:55.24. The 400y medley relay of Yoshida, Lawlor, Keating, and Osmulski also took fourth, finishing in 4:08.23. The 400y freestyle relay of Pedrick, Keating, Osmulski, and Yoshida placed fourth with a time of 3:47.61.
Sophomore
Cody Parkercaptured the 1000-yard freestyle with a personal best of 10:18.91. Sophomore
Kevin Greener was the runner-up in 10:27.62 while freshman
Brett Borgognone was third in 10:33.73.
Freshman
Tyler Conley turned in a pair of second-place finishes. He was the runner-up in the 100y freestyle with a time of 49.24 seconds. Conley also was the runner-up in the 200y free with a time of 1:50.27 while senior
Andrew Robinson placed third in the event in 1:52.44 and classmate
Brendan Sarpu was fourth in 1:52.80.
Senior
Stefan Toi took third in the 400y IM with a time of 4:32.67 and fourth in the 200y IM with a time of 2:07.04. Sophomore
Rich Straub was fourth in the 100y breaststroke with a time of 1:06.12 while freshman
Chris Weaver took fourth in the 100y back with a time of 58.82 seconds.
On the boards, junior
Ryan Krebs won the men’s 3-meter with a score of 212.55 while freshman
Evan Barr was the runner-up with a personal best of 192.35. Freshman
Joe Dowling was third with a score of 185.75 while classmate
Will Sullivan was fourth with a 116.20. In the women’s 3-meter, freshman
Lauren Kemple placed fourth with a mark of 133.05.
The men’s 200y medley relay of
Andrew Hiss, Brian Friedlander, Robinson, and Conley placed second with a time of 1:40.51. The 400y medley relay of
Kenny Muti, Friedlander, Toi, and Conley placed fourth in 3:48.27. The 400y freestyle relay of Sarpu, Robinson,
Doug Leclair, and Conley finished third in 3:27.22.
Fairfield returns to action on October 22 when the swimmers travel to the UConn Husky Invitational while the divers travel to the CCSU Invitational.
