Biography

2010: Burns increased her playing time as a junior competing in 17 games and making the starting lineup for the first time as a Stag. Burns started in the first five out of six games for the Stags and finished the season with six starts. She had six shot attempts on the season providing dependable depth in the midfield position.

2009: Burns picked up playing time in four games, beginning with the season opener against the University of Connecticut. The midfielder also gained appearances against Ball State University, Villanova University, and Sacred Heart University. She was part of the midfield rotation before an injury put on the bench. Burns registered a pair of shots in her four outings, sending a shot toward goal against the University of Connecticut and Sacred Heart University.   

2008:
Burns put together a solid rookie season as a reserve, playing in 14 of the team's 18 contests. She came off the bench in all 14 appearances, including four of the five America East games. She scored her first collegiate points with a goal against Siena, netting the team's fourth goal in a 5-1 win. The goal came off her only shot of the game, one of three she took during the season. 

Before Fairfield
:  As a senior at Falmouth High School, Burns led the Atlantic Coast League in scoring and was named the league's most valuable player. She was an ACL all-star as a junior and an honorable mention selection as a sophomore. She served Falmouth as team captain in 2007. Burns was named an All-Cape All-Star as a senior. Academically, Burns was named to the Boston Globe's and the Boston Herald's All-Scholastic teams. The midfielder was named to the Massachusetts Best of 60. In addition to her field hockey play, Burns was a member of the varsity track and field and tennis teams. She participated in the Bay State Games for four years, playing with Team Coastal.  Burns played in the National Futures Tournament
