Biography

2021 Season: Mackenzie Boyle received All-NEC second team recognition for her play during the 2022 campaign. She was part of the Stags highly-rated defensive unit that eight shutouts in 22 games and allowed just 1.18 goals per game. The defender was on the pitch for all 22 of the team’s games, starting 21 of those dates. Under her guidance, Fairfield allowed no more than one goal in 15 games and more than two goals just two times in the regular season. She also contributed offensively with a goal and an assist, picking up a goal against Bryant and an assist in the Saint Francis game. She collected a nod to the NFHCA National Academic Squad.

2020-21 Season: Boyle was a regular in the lineup throughout the 2020-21 season, playing in all seven games. She was a member of the starting lineup in each of her appearances, averaging nearly 60 minutes per game played. Boyle collected 410 minutes in the seven games which includes a season-high 78 minutes in the Long Island University game.

2019 Season: Boyle capped her 2019 season by earning a spot on the NFHCA Scholars of Distinction team as well as a berth on the All-NEC second team as a defender. She was part of the one of the top defenses in the nation as the Stags allowed one goal or less in 18 of their 22 games. She helped Fairfield garner five shutouts during the campaign. The defender also had a role in the team’s first-ever NCAA tournament victory, scoring off a deflection for the team’s third goal in a 3-1 victory against American in the team’s opening round contest. The shot was Boyle’s only attempt of the season.

2018 Season: Boyle picked up three starts during the 2018 campaign and served as a reserve for her other 16 appearances. She received a nod to the opening lineup against Holy Cross and at Vermont in consecutive games before collecting her final start at LIU Brooklyn. Boyle spent a good portion of the season in the middle third of the pitch and helped the Stags defense record seven shutout and allow just 1.39 goals per game.

Before Fairfield: Mackenzie Boyle was a midfielder and honors student at Central Bucks High School East in Doylestown, Pennsylvania.  Her team was back to back Suburban One League Continental Conference champions in 2016 and 2017 and Boyle was named to the Suburban One Continental Conference First Team in 2017.  She also was named First Team All-State PIAA AAA in 2017, CB East 2016 Defensive Player of the Year, and received the CB East 2017 Unsung Hero Award.  Boyle also found success with her club team, FSC Field Hockey as they were three-time National Indoor Tournament Pool winners, two-time Junior Premier Indoor League Champions, and made it to the U19 National Club Championship in 2017.
