Biography
2012-13
Malcolm Gilbert transferred to Fairfield University after spending time at the University of Pittsburgh. Gilbert did not play during the spring, 2013 semester as part of the NCAA residency rule.
2011-12
Gilbert was a redshirt sophomore for the Panthers and did not play in any games during the 2012-13 season. As a freshman, the center appeared in 19 games and played 93 minutes as a reserve. His first appearance as a Panther occurred in the Long Beach State game. He enjoyed his best overall game against St. Francis, Pa. with two points, three rebounds, and 16 minutes. He was a Big East Academic All-Star in 2011-12.
High School
Gilbert is a 2011 graduate of Academy of the New Church where he helped the team to a 21-6 overall record and the number eight position in the state rankings. He averaged 6.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks per game in his final year at the Academy of the New Church. He was an All-Friends League honorable mention and became a 2011 McDonald's All-America nominee as a senior.
