Biography

2014: Rebecca Trott finished the season in strong fashion by posting two shutouts in her last three regular-season starts. The senior tossed a five-inning no-hitter against Saint Peter’s before ending the regular-season with a shutout against Manhattan. . Trott was named the MAAC Pitcher of the Week after her no-hit performance against Saint Peter’s.  In those two games, she fanned 17 hitters including nine against the Peacocks. Trott fanned nearly one batter per inning with 87 strikeouts in 92.1 innings pitched. The senior fanned seven or more hitters in six games, three of which came in her last four regular-season starts. She tallied nine strikeouts against Iona, nine versus Saint Peter’s, and eight in the Manhattan game. She led the team with a 2.88 ERA and posted a 6-10 record in her 16 decisions. Trott picked up her lone save of 2014 in a 2-0 win over Stony Brook.

 

2013: Trott picked up 13 wins and a team-best .684 winning percentage in 2013, finishing the year with a 13-6 mark. Her 101 strikeouts in 115.2 innings give her a 6.11 strikeouts per seven innings average. She fanned a season-high eight batters four times during the year beginning with her 2013 debut against East Carolina. She also reached the mark against Niagara and Manhattan in the regular season as well as Niagara in the MAAC tournament. She started 18 of her 28 appearances, starting six of her last seven appearances. She picked up her lone save this year at Quinnipiac with an inning of scoreless work. She owned a team-best 1.52 ERA in MAAC play with a 5-2 record.               

2012: Trott finished the season as the team leader with 17 wins as well as with six MAAC victories. She won her last six MAAC decisions after starting off with a loss to both Iona and Marist. She finished the season with 151 strikeouts in 201.2 innings (5.2 per seven innings). She fanned 45 batters over her last 57 innings, including a personal best 12 in a win at Saint Peter’s. Trott struck out 10 batters in a nine-inning complete game win over Siena in her last regular-season start. She also reached double figures with 10 strikeouts in 4.2 innings against Towson. The sophomore started all but five appearances and completed 18 of her 32 starts. One of her relief appearances resulted in a one inning save against Quinnipiac. She allowed two runs in 9.1 innings pitched as a reliever (1.50 ERA).

2011: Trott emerged as the number two starter for the Fairfield pitching staff, sporting 13 starts in her 18 appearances. She owned a 3-5 overall record and a 1-2 MAAC mark. She threw 32.1 innings against conference foes during the regular season, second only to Sarah Minice’s 75 innings. She was flawless in her two MAAC tournament appearances, posting a 0.00 ERA in 9.1 innings pitched. Although she did not earn a decision in the tournament, she allowed just three hits and two walks in her 9-plus innings. She opened her career with a pair of wins in her first two starts, defeating Charleston Southern (4-2) and Holy Cross (11-2). Her third win came against Saint Peter’s, allowing three hits and no earned runs in the victory. She fanned a season-high 11 hitters against Holy Cross, six more than her next performance of five set against four opponents (Stony Brook, Iona, Central Connecticut, and Manhattan). A control pitcher, she struck out twice as many hitters as she walked (60 strikeouts, 28 walks).

Before Fairfield: Trott came to Fairfield Universityafter graduating from Poway High School. She enjoyed a solid scholastic career which included 38 career wins and more than 500 career strikeouts. Trott ended her career with a 2.40 ERA. She was chosen the team's top pitcher as a junior, and was selected the team's most valuable player as a senior. She also excelled in the classroom, garnering a spot on the Union Tribune All-Academic team three straight years.
