Field Hockey Continues Homestand By Hosting LIU Sunday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University field hockey will finish up the first half of its season opening homestand by hosting LIU on Sunday afternoon. The game represents the third straight game at University Field to start the season, a stretch that will see the Stags play six of their first seven games at home.

Opening weekend saw Head Coach Laura Gebhart's squad split a pair of games, falling to ninth-ranked Syracuse University by a 2-1 score before responding with a 4-0 win over the College of the Holy Cross on Sunday.

The team received strong play from all part of the pitch, beginning with play inside the offensive circle. Kylie Corcoran earned the CAA Offensive Player of the Week after setting up the first goal and adding one of her own a few minutes to tally the first two of four goals posted against Holy Cross.

Goalkeepers Paige Jackson and Georgia McDade combined for the clean sheet with Jackson seeing time in the first half and McDade coming on for the final two quarters. One game earlier, Jackson surrendered two goals against the Orange but made five stops to keep her teammates close throughout the afternoon.

LIU opened its 2026 season with a 2-0 setback against Lehigh, yielding a goal in both the second and fourth quarters. The Sharts took seven shots in the game and put on target in the match. Taryn Dolka played all 60 minutes in the goal, faced 18 shots, and made seven saves.

LIU is in the midst of a six-game road trip, one that will last until the team opens its home slate with a September 18 match up against Rider University. Last season, the Sharks posted a 2-2 record on its home pitch.

Following Sunday's home game, the Stags will take to the road for the first time this season when they travel to Yale University on Friday, September 11. Game time is set for 6 pm. Following that date, Fairfield will return home to complete the weekend by hosting Brown University on Sunday at 1 pm.
