EDISON, N.J. – Zofia Sykut has been named the Metro Conference Setter of the Week following a 2-0 performance for Fairfield University Volleyball in Western New York. Sykut ran the Stags' attack to a league-best .311 hitting percentage in the road wins at Niagara and Canisius.
Sykut headed the setter position for eight sets this past weekend, dishing out 10.38 assists per frame while guiding the Stags to their .311 clip. She also went over on two for six kills on 20 errorless swings (.300), served up a team-best four service aces and chipped in defensively with 16 digs and five blocks. Sykut is the first Stag to win Setter of the Week, which was instituted by the conference prior to the 2024 season.
On the season, Sykut has distributed 6.68 assists per set managing both a 5-1 and 6-2 offense. She is among the conference leaders with a team-high 20 service aces. Fairfield enters the week leading the Metro Conference with a .244 team hitting percentage.
Fairfield Volleyball returns to action tonight – Tuesday, Sept. 29 – for a 7 p.m. Metro Conference clash at Sacred Heart. The Stags and Pioneers are both 2-0 in conference play coming off of their respective trips to Western New York.
