FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will close out their season-opening road trip when they make the trip to play UMass Lowell for a Sunday night contest starting at 7pm. This will be the first meeting between the two teams since the 2023 season with the Stags unbeaten in both matches in the series under Head Coach David Barrett.
 
The Stags opened their 2026 campaign with a 4-0 setback against No. 8 North Carolina on the road at Chapel Hill. Fairfield's defense withstood the Tar Heel's offensive pressure that resulted in 24 shots and two goals in each half. Junior goalkeeper Alyssa Gluting registered a career-high seven saves in the contest including several point-blank opportunities.
 
Offensively, the Stags' best chances came on opportunities by Ashley McMahon and Amelie Stewart. Both chances came in the second half with one going just wide over the top right corner and Stewart's attempt going on target and needing a diving stop by the goalkeeper.
 
UMass Lowell is coming off a 1-1 draw against Providence on Wednesday. The River Hawks were picked fourth in the America East Preseason Poll with sophomore Nora Bellin receiving preseason accolades.
 
This is the third match in the all-time series with each contest coming in the Coach Barrett tenure. Fairfield is 1-0-1 in the series with a 1-1 draw in their last matchup in 2023.
 
Fairfield will next open the home portion of their 2026 campaign and return to Lessing Field on Thursday night against Boston University at 6pm.
