RICHMOND, Va. – After helping to fortify the Fairfield defense in the second half comeback for Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse on Saturday against Yale, Alex Meier has been named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week. Meier had two caused turnovers and two ground balls in the Stags' 15-14 overtime loss to visiting Yale.
 
Meier's caused turnovers and ground balls were the first of his career. He was a part of a defensive effort that helped the Stags flip a 10-6 deficit to a 14-14 deadlock with Yale, though the Bulldogs would escape with the overtime decision.
 
Saturday was the Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium debut as a Stag for Meier, though the rookie previously headed the defense while patrolling that same turf for Fairfield Prep.
