Luke Patchen Named CAA Rookie of the Week

Patchen scored two goals in his Fairfield debut on Friday

RICHMOND, Va. – After netting two goals in his collegiate debut for Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse, Luke Patchen has been named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week. Patchen and the Stags opened 2026 with a 14-13 double-overtime win at Lehigh this past Friday.
 
Patchen's two goals on Friday were both of the unassisted variety. His first career strike staked Fairfield to a 6-3 lead midway through the second quarter, and his second goal came early in the third as he pushed the margin to 11-5. The rookie put three shots on target and attempted four in total as a part of the Stags' second midfield.
 
USA Lacrosse All-American at Jamesville-DeWitt, Luke Patchen joined the Stags' midfield after a standout scholastic career. Patchen graduated Jamesville-DeWitt with the most goals by a midfielder in program history as part of his 248 career points. He was named the 2025 Section lll Small School Player of the Year, two-time All-State, two-time All-CNY First Team and three-time All-SCAC First Team. Patchen led the Red Rams to three Section and Regional Championships, finishing as the New York State Runner-Up on three occasions.
 
Fairfield Men's Lacrosse returns to action and takes to Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium for the first time this Saturday, Feb. 14 for a noon visit from Brown. Admission is free for all fans.
