Stags Look to Bounce Back Against Crosstown Rivals Sacred Heart on Saturday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will look to bounce back from their first conference loss of the season when they take the short trip to face their crosstown rivals Sacred Heart on Saturday at 2pm. Fairfield enters the game in second place in the MAAC standings with their 11-1 MAAC mark.
 
Fairfield's 72-58 loss to Quinnipiac was not only their first conference setback of the season, it snapped several streaks. The loss snapped the Stags' 13-game winning streak which was the fourth longest in the country. It also ended Fairfield's 21-game home winning streak which tied a program record and was the fourth-longest active streak in the country.
 
The Stags were held to a season-low five 3-pointers and tied their lowest scoring output of the season with 58 points.
 
Fairfield still holds the national lead with 12.1 made 3-pointers per game and now ranks sixth in Division I with a .382 3-point shooting percentage.
 
The Stags had four players reach double-figures in scoring led by Cyanne Coe's 14 points on 7-for-9 shooting. She leads the MAAC with a .680 field goal percentage against MAAC foes, leading the category by nearly 100 points.
 
Janelle Brown broke a Fairfield record in the game, appearing in her 130th career game, the most by a Stag all-time.
 
Sacred Heart sits third in the MAAC standings with a 9-3 league mark. Amelia Wood is the team's leading scorer with a 14.9 scoring average.
 
The Stags will open February with two home games, starting with a Thursday night affair against Marist at 7pm.
