Stags Host Niagara on Saturday Afternoon

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Basketball team will host the Niagara Purple Eagles on Saturday at Leo D. Mahoney with tip-off at 2pm. The Stags are coming off a victory over Canisius, marking their 18th-straight home win the fifth-longest active streak in the nation.
 
Fairfield had their best defensive performance in the win over the Griffs allowing just 43 points, the fewest by a Stags opponent this year. Fairfield also forced the Griffs to just 14 first half points and six in the first quarter, both marking the lowest scoring output by an opponent. The Stags also forced 24 turnovers against the Griffs and are averaging 21.4 forced turnovers in their last five games.
 
It was also the third time this season the Stags surrendered single digits in the first quarter.
 
On the offensive side, Meghan Andersen led all scorers with 19 points while going 8-for-14 from the field. She moved into the top-20 in program history in career scoring with 1,222 career points.
 
For the second-straight game, Janelle Brown led the play making with five assists. She moves into 17th in the record books with 337 career dimes.
 
Fairfield's 18-game home winning streak ranks fifth in the country behind: TCU, Texas, Tennessee Tech, and UNC Greensboro.
 
The Stags have also won seven-straight games against MAAC opponents and are 49-1 against the conference in their last 50 games.
 
Niagara brings an 0-12 record into the weekend contest with Talia Dial leading the team with 12.4 points per game.
 
Fairfield will hit the road next week when they travel to Saint Peter's on Thursday night at 6pm.
