Three-Match Homestand Kicks Off Wednesday with Visit from Yale

First serve is set for 6 p.m.

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Volleyball kicks off its third season inside Leo D. Mahoney Arena on Wednesday with a visit from Yale. First serve on the matchup between the reigning MAAC Champion Stags and the defending Ivy League Champion Bulldogs is set for 6 p.m.

Fairfield University Stags (3-2, 0-0 MAAC)
  • Fairfield split its weekend at the Villanova Classic, earning a 3-2 win over High Point and dropping a 3-1 decision to the host Wildcats.
  • Katelyn Cook and Abby Jandro represented Fairfield on the All-Tournament Team.
  • Cook led the Stags with 2.78 kills and 2.78 digs per set against HPU and Villanova. Jandro ran the offense with 6.44 assists per frame and chipped in defensively with 1.67 digs per set.
  • Fairfield has gone to five sets in three of its first five matches, earning 3-2 wins over Towson and High Point while losing a five-setter to West Virginia.

Yale University Bulldogs (0-2, 0-0 Ivy)
  • Yale is 0-2 after its trip to Pennsylvania, losing 3-2 decisions to both High Point and Villanova.
  • The Bulldogs are the preseason favorites in the Ivy League in 2025. Yale has won three straight Ivy League Championships and six of the last seven. The Bulldogs have also won all three Ivy League Tournaments since the Ancient Eight re-instated its postseason tournament in 2022.
  • Yale returns four All-Ivy players, including First Team pick Betsy Goodenow.

All-Time Series
  • Yale won a five-set contest last September at Lee Amphitheater to take a 12-7 lead in the all-time series.
  • The Stags are looking to snap a four-match skid against the Bulldogs (2002, 2009, 2018, 2024).
  • The last time Fairfield hosted Yale was also the Stags' last win in the series – a 3-1 victory at Alumni Hall in 2001 to cap a five-match winning streak for Fairfield against the Bulldogs.

Notes
  • By mutual agreement, the Stags and Bulldogs are meeting this Wednesday at Mahoney Arena instead of going head-to-head over this past weekend at the Villanova Classic.
  • Including two matches apiece against MAAC rivals Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart, Fairfield will play 25% of its regular season against fellow Connecticut squads. In addition to Yale, the Stags host UConn on Saturday, Sept. 13 and visit CCSU on Friday, Sept. 19. The only Division I team from the Nutmeg State that the Stags will not see in 2025 is DI newcomer New Haven.

Up Next
  • The home weekend at Mahoney Arena will feature a pair of Huskies when the Stags welcome Northeastern on Friday, Sept. 12 and UConn on Saturday, Sept. 13.
  • Fairfield will recognize its 2024 MAAC Championship team prior to Friday's meeting with Northeastern.
  • Admission is free for all fans to all regular season home games this season.
