#12/13 Stags Head to Stony Brook, Saturday at Noon

Fairfield eyes a 10-0 start

OPENING FACEOFF
#12/13 Fairfield University Men's Lacrosse hops on the ferry and heads to Long Island to visit Stony Brook on Saturday, March 29. The Coastal Athletic Association contest begins at noon live on SNY and FloCollege.

LAST TIME OUT
Fairfield finished Saturday's game on Senior Day at Rafferty Stadium on a 5-1 run to surge past visiting Drexel, 12-11. Jake Gilbert and Luke Okupski had the final two goals that propelled the Stags to the CAA win.

The one-goal game was Fairfield's third of the season, joining the Stags' back-to-back February overtime wins over Sacred Heart and Manhattan. Fairfield had not trailed in a game since the final minute of regulation against the Jaspers – a span of 282:26 of game time – prior to falling behind late in the third quarter of Saturday's contest.

Rob Moore dished out five assists on Saturday, making him the Stags' leading scorer without netting a goal of his own.

Jake Gilbert had a four-point day with two goals and two helpers. Keegan Lynch had two goals and an assist, with Will Consoli, Luke Okupski and Devin Lampron adding two goals apiece.

Rounding out the scoring, Matt Rice and Jason LaMay Jr. each had one goal and Andrew Kasten doled out one assist.

Rice was also a force on the defensive end with three caused turnovers and four ground balls. Julian Radossich finished with four caused turnovers and Owen Hirsch had two from the crease.

At the faceoff X, Daniel Davis went 11-for-21 with eight ground balls. Jonathan Lewis won all three of his attempts in relief.

Conor Hooley and Matt Martin each had two goals for Drexel. Brendan Donnelly made 13 saves protecting the cage for the Dragons.

SERIES HISTORY
The Stags' win at Rafferty Stadium last season shifted the all-time series to 7-5 in favor of Stony Brook. The teams are 1-1 since the Seawolves joined the CAA beginning with the 2023 season. Fairfield is seeking its first-ever win at Stony Brook, going 0-5 in five prior trips to the Island.

The series has been defined by close games, with four decided by one goal and all 12 prior meetings settled by three goals or less.

WITH A WIN...
With a win on Saturday, Fairfield would be 10-0 for the first time in program history.

The Stags are seeking their sixth campaign with double-digit wins. Fairfield had a program-best 12 victories in both 2012 and 2014. 2014 is also the Stags' last season with 10 or more triumphs.

HOT START, HOT FACTS
Fairfield's 9-0 record is the best start in program history, surpassing the 2012 squad that won its first seven games en route to a 12-4 final mark.

The Stags have also attained the longest overall winning streak in program annals, topping the streak of seven games set in 2005 and matched in both 2012 and 2014.

With Maryland and Army West Point both suffering their first losses of 2025, Fairfield is the nation's last remaining unbeaten team.

CHART CLIMBERS
Checking in at #13, the Stags have been ranked in the USILA Poll for the last four weeks. The Stags' best ever national ranking is #11, achieved in 2014.

The Stags also moved up three spots to #12 in this week's Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and rose two places to #13 in the USA Lacrosse Top 20.

GOALS GALORE
Fairfield Men's Lacrosse set a host of program records in the 29-4 CAA road win at Hampton. The Stags established new single-game standards for goals (29), margin of victory (25), points (52), assists (23) and faceoffs won (30). Those marks are all tops in the nation in a single game this season.
